SUS316L Description :
SUS316L has corrosion resistance by reducing carbon from SUS316 which has improved corrosion resistance by increasing nickel and adding molybdenum to SUS304, a typical grade of austenitic stainless steel.
This grade is difficult to find sources due to low volume in circulation among general-purpose stainless steels, but we can supply it in foils, special dimension, and small lots.
*The "L" in SUS316L stands for low carbon.
Main Features of SUS316L:
- Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Superior resistance to seawater, chlorides, chemicals, and aggressive industrial environments. - Enhanced Intergranular Corrosion Resistance
Low carbon content minimizes sensitization and carbide precipitation after welding. - Outstanding Weldability
Suitable for welded structures and precision fabricated components without requiring post-weld heat treatment in many applications. - Excellent Biocompatibility
Widely used in medical devices such as stents, needles, and surgical components. - Good Formability and Fabrication Characteristics
Suitable for deep drawing, bending, stamping, and precision manufacturing processes. - Non-Magnetic in Annealed Condition
Remains essentially non-magnetic after solution annealing, though slight magnetism may develop following cold work.
SUS316L is widely used in medical devices, fuel cell components, precision electronics, marine equipment, chemical processing systems, bellows, diaphragms, micropumps, camera modules, and applications requiring superior corrosion resistance, cleanliness, and weldability.
Unmatched Corrosion ResistanceSUS316L stainless steel is engineered for environments where resistance to corrosion is a priority, such as in medical, electronic, and chemical-processing applications. Its low carbon structure lessens carbide precipitation during welding, maintaining corrosion resistance and durability. This makes it ideal for components that are exposed to aggressive substances or varying temperatures, ensuring longevity and consistent performance.
Versatile Forms and FinishesAvailable as coils, sheets, wires, bars, and pipes, SUS316L offers immense versatility. Finish options include Bright Annealed (BA), Skin Passed (2B), and As Rolled (Hard), with bright and dull surface choices. These adaptations support a wide range of applications, from intricate fuel cell assemblies to sturdy medical devices, allowing manufacturers to tailor the material to suit specific end uses.
