Description SUS304L is the extra-low-carbon version of the widely used austenitic stainless steel grade SUS304. The reduced carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation during welding and heat exposure, resulting in superior resistance to intergranular corrosion.

The "L" designation stands for Low Carbon. Compared with standard SUS304, SUS304L offers enhanced corrosion resistance in welded structures and applications where sensitization may occur.

In the annealed condition, SUS304L exhibits lower hardness and a lower work-hardening rate than SUS304, making it particularly suitable for deep drawing and complex forming operations.

Main Features:
  1. Excellent Intergranular Corrosion Resistance
The low carbon content significantly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation and sensitization after welding.
  2. Outstanding Formability
Low hardness and reduced work hardening allow deep drawing, bending, and complex forming processes with minimal risk of cracking.
  3. Good General Corrosion Resistance
Maintains the excellent corrosion resistance associated with the SUS304 stainless steel family.
  4. Excellent Weldability
Suitable for welded assemblies without requiring post-weld heat treatment in many applications.
  5. Suitable for Precision Components
Frequently selected for diaphragms, bellows, springs, and other components requiring both corrosion resistance and formability.
  6. Non-Magnetic in Annealed Condition
Remains non-magnetic when solution annealed but may develop slight magnetism after cold working.
SUS304L is commonly used in precision components, welded assemblies, chemical processing equipment, bellows, diaphragms, spring elements, and applications where superior corrosion resistance and formability are required.
